Edmilson Furtado, nome artístico Edyoung Lennon, Rapper, Poeta e Slamer, elemento do grupo de Hip Hop “Detroit Kabuvernianu”, Natural de Santa Catarina, Cidade de Assomada. O dom para a escrita começou a ser revelado já na escola primária. Aos oito anos, quando um professor duvidou que fosse ele o autor de um poema, percebeu que tinha um talento em potencial. Aos 13 anos venceu o concurso regional de poemas e declamações em comemoração ao dia dos heróis nacionais. Sempre integrado nos Detroit Kabuverdianu, vem compondo e gravando mixtapes que lança em plataformas online, fazendo também uso das redes sociais para divulgar a sua música. Em 2009 o grupo venceu o Prémio Nacional “Mixtape d’oro” Condecorado como uma das melhores produções musicais daquele ano. Sempre ativo o grupo seguia lançando singles e fazendo apresentações, até que em 2014 Lançou o ultimo mixtape “Momentu Pa Iternidadi”, merecedor de críticas positiva por parte do público e da comunidade da cultura urbana em geral. Slamer frequente do Spoken Word Cabo Verde, evento que acabou por “revelar” o talento do jovem rapper a um público nem sempre atento à força poética e retórica do hip hop. Foi durante uma sessão que os organizadores do evento anunciaram que o Edyoung Lennon seria escolhido para Representar SWCV no Portugal Slam, respondendo assim a um convite da Associação Cultural Pantalassa.

Edmilson Furtado, under the artistic name of Edyoung Lennon, is a Rapper, Poet and Slamer, member of the hip hop group “Detroit Kabuvernianu”, from Santa Catarina City of Assomada. The gift of writing began to be revealed in Primary school. At the age of eight after a teacher doubting if he was indeed the author of a poem, he realized he had a potential talent. At 13 years old he won the regional contest of poetry declamation in the celebration of the Day of National Heroes. Always Integrated in Detroit Kabuverdianu, he has been composing and recording mixtapes that are released through online platforms, also using social networks to promote his music. In 2009 the band won the National Award “Mixtape d’oro” and was awarded as one of the best musical productions of that year. Always active, the band continued releasing music singles and performing, and in 2014 the latest mixtape was released: “momentu Pa Iternidadi”, that got positive reviews from the audience and urban culture community in general. Edyoung is also a known slamer of the Spoken Word Cape Verde, event that turned out to “reveal” the young rapper’s talent to and audience that was not really aware of the poetic and rhetorical force of hip hop. It was during a session that organizers announced that Edyoung Lennon would be representing SWCV in Portugal Slam, after a special invitation from the Cultural Association Pantalassa.
